It’s 5 a.m. and I had to get up and write this…

I was thinking about a client, a lovely go-getter, she’s been working as a speaker for a number of years, and the past 4 years her business has stalled at about 400 k.

When we work with a client we focus on four quadrants of business…systems, sales, team and lead generation.

If one of these areas is off balance, your businesses income potential will be stalled. Many clients come to us with one area functioning well and the others suffering.

We then clean up each area so the growth is equal, which in turn, increases the revenue.

In this rare situation, Jane’s problem wasn’t the four quadrants, it was something else…

Her problem was that she was hiding in her business.

She got caught up in an idea when she began and it just spiraled out of control.

I see this a lot; we get an idea, we’re driven by a passion, but 5 years later we don’t remember why we’re doing what we’re doing and the “habit” (whether a business activity, decision or otherwise) no longer makes any sense to us.

It started as one thing and evolved into another entirely.

So back to Jane…

Why would someone hide?

Well, it’s scary.

It’s scary to put yourself out there and be vulnerable.

It’s scary to have your beliefs on the line when someone could knock them down.

It could also be scary to do what you really want to do and fail.

So in the meantime, we’re living in this inauthentic space. And we may be doing well but not as well as we could be.

So how do we come out of hiding?

Well, I think we need to start by noticing that we’re hiding.

Next, we start telling the truth about things; what is it that we truly want to do, and how do we start showing up that way with others.

I don’t think it’s a big revolution all at once (I mean, it can be) but I think it’s just as valuable to ‘come out’ one step at a time.

I’ll use myself as an example.

For years, I’ve really been passionate about certain topics in business and the online industry, but haven’t overtly expressed them, or when I did say something about those irksome realities, then it comes across as weak, diluted and not powerful.

I truly believe there’s a big gap and bulls#!* machine in the online business, coaching and marketing space.

People are spending their life saving on program after program, only to stay stuck or worse, not actually make any money.

That gets to me.

I would like an industry that’s more authentic in its offerings.

I’d like for coaches and programs to fully deliver on their promises.

And I want to speak out about this more.

So instead of avoiding the topic, I could speak and blog about it, and tie it in to the many things I do.

Do I worry that people will get upset?

Yes I do.

Do I worry what others will think?

Of course.

But I think it’s time for me to start speaking up more, and perhaps you might consider it too?

What are you feeling in your business that you’re not saying?

What are you holding back that could serve others?
